Burj Khalifa: which ticket and what time to go

Six ticket options, the words prime, non-prime and Fast Track, and time slots that sell out days ahead. Here is what each of them means, so you can choose the floor and the time once and without overpaying.

Burj Khalifa: which ticket and what time to go

Short answer

Silver is enough for most: floors 124 and 125 with an open terrace, child fare for ages 3–8 years. The clearest view is before 11:00; the most striking is an hour before sunset, but those slots cost more and sell out days ahead. From December to March, take Fast Track in the evening: the queue can reach an hour. Floor 148 buys a lounge and fewer people, not a different view.

Six tickets: how they differ

TicketWhat you getWho it suitsPrice
Silver, 124/125standard observation deck, open-air terracemost visitors194 AED
Silver + Fast Trackthe same floors, a separate lane to the liftsevening slots in high season, families with children312 AED
Silver + The Cafethe visit plus a drink and dessert at the toppeople who want to sit with a view216 AED
Silver + Dubai AquariumDowntown's two main sights in one orderone day at Dubai Mall347 AED
Gold, 148/125/124floor 148 and a lounge with refreshmentscouples, a special occasion424 AED
Platinum, 152–154the highest observation area in the world and the private The Loungewhen height is the goal761 AED

The view from floor 124 and from floor 148 is not radically different: the extra cost pays for the lounge and the absence of crowds. For two people it is an understandable choice; for a family of four, the same money buys four standard tickets and one more activity in the city. None of the decks has height restrictions.

Prime time and non-prime: what they mean

Prime time is the sunset slots, usually 16:30–18:30 in winter and later in summer, when the city moves from daylight to evening lights. They cost more and sell out one to three days ahead. Non-prime is every other hour. All tickets in the app are non-prime; if you specifically want sunset, mention it when you order and we will check the slot separately.

To catch the sunset, book a slot about an hour before it: time to go up, find a spot by the glass and watch the lights come on. Sunset in Dubai by month (on the 15th):

MonthSunsetMonthSunset

February18:12August18:55
March18:28September18:24
April18:41October17:53
May18:56November17:32
June19:10December17:31

In the morning before 11:00 there are the fewest people and the least haze, and the view is clearer than in the afternoon. At night you see the city lights, but photographing through the glass is harder.

Fast Track: when you need it and when you do not

In high season and on sunset slots the queue to go up can reach an hour; Fast Track takes you through a separate lane. The rule is simple: you do not need it for a morning slot, and for an evening slot from December to March it is close to essential. The extra cost is currently 118 AED per person; an hour in a queue with children costs more.

The aquarium combo: the numbers

The Silver + Dubai Aquarium combo costs 347 AED; the same two sights bought separately cost 364 AED. Both are in Dubai Mall, ten minutes' walk apart, so the combo is not only about price but also about one day with no transfers: the aquarium in the afternoon, the deck at sunset, the fountains afterwards.

How it works on the day

The entrance is through Dubai Mall. The nearest metro station is Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall; from the station to the mall entrance it is about fifteen minutes on foot through a covered walkway. Arrive 20–30 minutes before your confirmed slot: the walk from the mall entrance to the lifts takes time. Entry is usually allowed within half an hour of the slot; if you are running late, message our team before your entry time and we will help you move to another slot.

The terrace on floor 124 is windy even on a warm day, so a light jumper is useful. You do not need a passport, only the voucher on your phone. There is no strict dress code.

Children

The Silver child fare is 144 AED for ages 3–8 years; younger children go free, older children need an adult ticket. With Gold and Platinum the child price is almost the same as the adult price, so for a family with children Silver with Fast Track usually works out better than one Gold for everyone.

If not the Burj: three decks nearby

Which ticket suits whom

First time in Dubai: Silver in the morning, or Silver + Fast Track at sunset in high season. A couple with an occasion: Gold. A family with children: Silver + Fast Track in the evening, or Silver in the morning without it. One day in Downtown: the aquarium combo and the fountains in the evening. If you want photos of the Burj itself: Sky Views.
